Triathlon Training

Six training plans across 8, 16 and 20 weeks, covering swim, bike, run and strength. Pick one that matches the time you have and the discipline you are worst at.

Pick the plan around your weakest leg

Most first-time triathletes come from one of the three disciplines and are quietly dreading another one, usually the swim. Rather than a single generic plan, there are six, some weighted toward a discipline you need to build and some balanced across all three. Choose based on where you actually are, not where you would like to be.

  • Six training plans: sprint and Olympic distance
  • 8, 16 and 20 week options
  • Swim, bike, run and strength sessions
  • Plans weighted toward a weak discipline, or balanced
  • Distance graphed by discipline
  • Apple Health integration
  • Cloud backup

Eight weeks or twenty

The plan length is a real decision, not a preference. Twenty weeks builds a base properly; eight weeks gets you to a start line you have already entered. Both exist because both situations are common.

Progress across three sports

The awkward part of triathlon training is that progress is spread across three logs that do not compare to each other. Distances are graphed per discipline so you can see the swim volume that has quietly stalled while the run kept climbing. Sessions sync to Apple Health, and your data is backed up to the cloud.

Common questions

Is this for a first triathlon?
Yes. The plans cover sprint and Olympic distance, which is where nearly everyone starts.
Which plan length should I choose?
The longest one that fits before your race. Twenty weeks builds more base; eight weeks is for when the entry is already paid and the date is close.
Does it include strength work?
Yes, alongside the swim, bike and run sessions.
Does it sync with Apple Health?
Yes, on iPhone.
