Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Vandersoft mobile apps and this website. The short version: your training data belongs to you, we do not sell it, and most of our apps work without an account at all.
The short version
- Your training history is stored on your device by default.
- Signing in is optional where it is offered, and exists so your data can sync between your own devices.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your training data with advertisers.
- You can export your data and you can ask us to delete it.
We publish a range of apps built over many years, and they do not all work the same way. This policy describes the full scope of what our apps may collect. Most individual apps collect considerably less.
What we collect
Information you enter
Lifts, weights, reps, run times, scores, bodyweight, goals, settings and similar information you type into an app. This is stored on your device. If an app offers sign-in and you choose to use it, this information is also stored on our servers so it can sync to your other devices.
Account information
Only where an app offers accounts, and only if you choose to create one. Depending on the sign-in method, we receive an email address and an account identifier. If you use Apple's private relay, we never see your real email address. Many of our apps have no sign-in at all and never ask for any of this.
Usage and diagnostic information
Anonymous usage analytics (which screens are opened and which features are used) and crash reports. Crash reports include device model, operating system version, and a technical record of what the app was doing when it failed. This is how faults get found and fixed.
Purchase information
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. We receive a record that a purchase or renewal occurred so the app knows what you are entitled to.
Device permissions
Some apps need a device permission to do their job: location for a running app, for example. Where that is the case the app asks first and explains why, and it will keep working if you decline.
Advertising
A small number of our apps display advertising in their free versions. Where they do, an advertising identifier may be used. You can limit or reset this in your device settings, and paid versions do not show ads.
This website
The site uses analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. There is no account and no login here.
What we ask of you
We collect as little as we can. Our apps do not require your real name, date of birth, postal address or phone number in order to work. We do not build advertising profiles from your training data, and we do not sell personal information to anyone.
How we use it
To run the features you asked for; to sync your data between your own devices where you have enabled that; to process purchases and honour subscriptions; to diagnose crashes and fix faults; to understand which features are used so we know what to improve; and to answer you when you contact support.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the apps, and only as far as they need it to do that. They fall into a small number of categories:
- Cloud hosting and database providers: where synced account data is stored
- Authentication providers: to sign you in where an app offers accounts
- Analytics and crash reporting providers: usage and diagnostic information
- Subscription and payment platforms: Apple, Google, and the service we use to manage entitlements
- Advertising networks: for the free versions of apps that show ads
These providers are bound by their own agreements and privacy policies. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to.
If you want to know which providers a particular app uses, email us and we will tell you.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can:
- Export your data. Apps that keep a training history include an export function.
- Delete your data. Deleting the app removes what is stored on the device. If you created an account, email us and we will delete the synced copy as well.
- Ask what we hold. Email us and we will tell you.
If you are in the EEA or UK, the GDPR gives you rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you rights of access and deletion and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell personal information as either law defines it.
To exercise any of these, email support@vandersoft.co.
Security and retention
Data synced to our servers is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by access rules that limit each account to its own records. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold deliberately small. The less there is, the less there is to lose.
Account data is kept while your account exists and is deleted on request. Usage and diagnostic data is retained on our providers' standard schedules.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will post the updated version here and revise the date below.
